These are part of the new "Stories from the Golden Age" collection that is bringing the majority of Hubbard’s pulp appearances back into print for a new generation of readers. The packaging is done in a way to resemble the original appearance and includes the original illustrations. The only thing missing is the pulp paper.

Each volume includes the title story and two or three shorter works, a glossary, and an introduction, in this case by Kevin J. Anderson. Each story appears as it did originally and has not been rewritten to update it. Each stands with its picture of the times in which they were written. It’s almost like opening a time capsule and seeing things the same way your father did.

Hubbard was a masterful storyteller and it is a pleasure to see a lot of the stories I’ve missed. There will be volumes from each of the genre that Hubbard wrote in. He was able to mystery, western, horror, fantasy, adventure – air, sea and oriental, and science fiction with equal style.

These are available by subscription from www.galaxypress.com/bookclub in paperback ($9.95), audio cd ($14.95) or both ($19.95). The cds are well produced and feature music and sound effects to add to the enjoyment. Each two cd set features over two hours of entertainment. Be sure to check them out, sometimes its nice to revisit the past and understand how the pulps led the way to the boom in book publishing of today.
