Confronting the Void

Major Jack McDaniel, a military psychiatrist, is resting at home when is served notice of a Code Orange and almost immediately finds himself on the Moon looking for his old friend Brandon Alexander. Brandon is the only survivor of Century One's first voyage into the Void. The crew of the second voyage is confined to the ship because of an eight-teen hour time gap in their voyage.

McDaniel finds Brandon in a drug bar and Brandon dies of a drug overdose after a brief conversation. Next, McDaniel ends up on the ship to question the crew when the ship takes off on its own after Brandon appears to McDaniel.

Lazarowitz combines out of body/after death experiences and travel to the stars in a very interesting and exciting short novel that will hopefully have a future adventure. It's a well done, fast read that only adds to the fine body of work that Lazarowitz has produced.
